Question about 1994 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

1994 corsica will not start. It turns over and sounds like it wants to start. I'm either thinking lack of fuel (sending unit or something), but someone else said could be starter not creating spark. Don't know if there is something typical with these vehicles that causes this?

Starters dont create spark the distributor coils handle that ..take of all wires to distributor coil bank and clean up connection real good then inspect spark plug wires im sure they probablty need changing,,oh and if you attempt this, mark ever wire you take off believe me you'll miss wire it your first time like i did and i swear i had it correct. you can check you fuel pump easy, there is an aixillary smallwire harness with a connection on it very close to the left side engine compartment up close near the channel by the hood channel area..if you just jumper this you can hear if the fuel pump is working i did this once and it wasnt working so i banged on the bottom of the fuel take real hard and that seemed to get it going so i could get to the dealer. fuel pump fixed it.

The fuel sending unit is bad. When they go bad they will read at different levels than what is in the tank. It could be grounding out but not likely when you remove the power wires.

Iv have a 91 chevy s10 w/2.5 5spd it stalls on highway(not cool)sometimes it will restart sometimes it wont.iv replaced the batt, fuel pump,regulater,relay,filter,sending unit,pickup coil,ing mod,...

Now that you've replaced nearly everything, the only thing left that I can think of is the oil pressure sending unit. If this is bad, the fuel pump shuts down, possibly causing the problem. However, before buying a new part, find the wire for the sender and ground it by attaching it to something on the engine. You won't indicate any oil pressure, but if this IS the problem, you'll know quickly. THEN go buy a new sending unit.

My 1994 Chevy Corsica just makes a slight start sound and then multiple click sounds when i try to start it. It is not starting, what can i check and do to fix my problem?

Check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness. Also check the battery voltage, or try to jump it. It sounds like the battery is drained.

1994 chevy s10 blazer starts won't turn over.

Start with the simple and try spraying some starter fluid in to the air intake tube (where the air filter is), If the engine starts, then your have no ignition issues and that it's going to be a fuel issue. Check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve which is located on the fuel line that goes in to the Upper intake manifold.

There should be 62-65 PSI with the ignition key's turned on Engine not started, if there is less then that. The fuel injectors will not operate to start the engine and your going to have to replace the fuel pump located in the gas tank. Note a dirty fuel filter that is restricting the fuel flow can also do this, so best to replace the fuel filter first before replacing the fuel pump and see if that will get the engine running again. (fuel sending unit)

When replacing the fuel sending unit, don't for get to replace the wire harness from the sending unit to the frame. It's common for the wires inside and insulator to break and will cause low fuel pressure issues for lack of electrical current flow.

If the engine does not start with starter fluid, then there is a good chance that you may have a ICM that has gone bad, coil of a crank shaft sensor that may need to be replaced.

Thank you for using Fixya and keep us posted.

94 honda accord turns off when i come to a stop.

Sounds like the fuel supply pipe inside the fuel tank has hole that's why if the fuel level is about 1/4 and the pipe hole is not completely soak in the fuel, the fuel pump will sucks air instead of fuel and this can cause of lack of power first until the engine shut off but if your problem is sudden shut off without other symptoms like lack of power or engine rough running first before engine shutting off, most probably it was electical problem.

1994 chevy corsica would'nt start?

CHECK THE PLUGS SEE IF THEY HAVE GAS (WET) AFTER YOU CRANK THE MOTOR, THEN TAKE OFF THE HT LEAD TO PLUG AND HOLD NEAR METAL PART OF BLOCK, (INSULATED PLIERS TO 50,000 VOLTS OR IT WILL HURT) CRANK THE ENGINE SEE IF THE SPARK IS THERE, MOST START PROBS ARE ELECTRICS, IF YOU HAVE ALL OF THESE REPLACE THE PLUGS
