Hi,
It sounds like you have a timing issue. One question I would have to ask, is if recently, have the spark plugs or plug wires been replaced. Sometimes a plug wire can be snapped onto the wrong plug or into the wrong spot on the distributor.
Else I would have the timing checked. This could be a quick fix for you. I'm hoping so... Good luck!

Nissan 1400 Champ. What is causing it to backfire and jerk?

sounds like a fuel supply fault. With backfiring it can be attributed to a faulty ignition component of a bad fuel air mix...you will probably need the services of a good Nissan mechanic to diagnose and
rectify the problem but it is almost certainly not very serious at the moment from what you describe. Have it seen to before it develops into something worse is what I advise.

Jetta 4 jerks and looses power

have you checked the coilpacks? Chances are..thats the problem. Not very costly to replace. The front are very easy to get to. Pull one out and look at it. If it is brown looking then that is the correct one to replace. If the check engine light is on, have it hooked up to a computer it will read as a cylinder misfire, then you will know which one to replace...1,2,3...etc

I have a 1994 mercury sable station wagon. while sitting at a stop light the engine died. when we finally got it restarted it began to back fire alot. Then all of a sudden it began working fine and ran...

A solution is hard to give with out looking at and doing some testing but advise and help i can do, this sounds like a lack of fuel pressure, it died out and was hard to restart and backfiring from loss of fuel, this sounds to me like a fuel pump that is on the way out,

The first thing would be to have a fuel pressure gauge connected to fuel rail so that you can watch the pressure as you drive and see if you loose pressure when car begins to die out or back fire. good day

p 2032 that the result of lack of power, the air flow was a good start but not the problem solution.loosing power on a hill your engine starves for fuel.by the way does the front timing cover have a noisy t belt.

Do a compression check. It sounds like the valve timing. If the engine has had recent maintenance like tune ups, oil changes etc. the symptoms you describe indicate serious problems.

95 jeep wrangler splutters, jerks, backfires during acceleration

The ECU controls all of that. When they start to go bad they do very strange things that are hard to diagnose. They run about $300 bucks of you do it yourself. They are simple to do. Shop around because it is an electrical component and many places wont warranty them but some places do if your lucky you can find one. I also would not rule out your timing or distributor. I dont know you or what you have checked but could be the rotor or could be carbon tracking inside the distributor. Even the slightest crack in the cap can mess everthing up.

JERKING AND LACK OFF POWER

could be a couple of things. run a tank or two of premium fuel and a few cycles of good injector cleaner. if that doesn't work it could be that it just needs a tune up. then after that, things start getting expensive and complicated
