It sounds like you have some debris, possibly a leaf or twig that is in the air inlet to at the blower fan. I would remove the fan and clean the air inlet, check the fan for any wear and replace as necessary.
You will find the fan located on the right side of the dash, behind the lower sound panel. You will have to remove the sound panel to see it. You might want to remove the glove box to give you more room to maneuver the heater motor and get a better view as well.
Good luck,
Let me know.

We have heard that complaint before, and it was the ac clutch cycling under the hood. It does sound like it is coming from the dash. The next time it is making the noise, open the hood and inspect the front of the compressor. It may be stopping and starting. The only other cause could be a mode actuator for the ac/heating system. Your vehicle has electric motors that move the air to defrost, floor, inside or out, etc. One of those actuators could be malfunctioning, but they usually just stop working. I would check the compressor first. It may just need additional freon. Hope this helps

You will have to prove out the wiring to make sure there are no shorts, opens, or poor connections. If there are no wiring problems, then the EEC may be at fault. The crank sensor produces an AC voltage signal that may be getting corrupted by the time it reaches the ignition module, due to bad wiring. Make sure to verify whether the ignition module is receiving a clean strong signal by using an oscilloscope or at least measure the signal with an AC voltmeter at the ICM connector while cranking the engine. The voltage will vary with speed, you are looking for a steady signal that doesn't drop out or become erratic. You can run new wires, and make sure they are not connected to possibly shorted sections of the old wiring, by cutting the old wires off at the connectors and connecting new wires to the cut ends. Or replace the connectors and wiring if you suspect that the connections are bad. Inspect carefully for damaged terminals that won't make a good tight connection with their mating pins when connected.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

2003 Cavalier - driver floor board wet - what is happening? All of a sudden now the horn doesn?t work either (fuse still good) ? and the tail lights on that side keep blowing too. Is all this related?

you have a plugged up ac drain line. if you look under the dash you should see a box, near the blower motor, that box is also a condensor and traps water from the ac. there should be a small hose going through the firwall under the dash. prepare for a mess. take the hose off and water will spill everywhere. but no worries ITS ONLY WATER!. the hose is more then likely KINKED shut and can be fixed by replaceing it or cutting the kink out and splcing back together
