VW Transporter T4 Automatic - Loud whining noise for half a

VW Transporter T4 Automatic- Loud whining noise for half a second when auto engaging from first to second gear.It does not occur on any other gear selection?

try checking your gear linkages make sure it is actually engaging in the box before you go any further

Way too low. I have the same vehicle. Pressure should be at least 55psi all round, depending on load.

I found a link that may help it is for a shop manual it includes the long wheel base and TDI models 1.9, 2.4, & 2.5 cost is $35.95 US

You will probably find it cheaper on Ebay there are several listed there NOW
Sorry I could find nothing listed for OWNERS manual you should try a salvage or breakers yard for that

SOURCE: Automatic shudders on some gear changes.

This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep

Hi, Had the same problem, just found the fault,it was a brcken wire causing relay109 to drop out. It was in the upper of the two harnesses on the bulkhead above the air filter, if you pull back the outer sleave and check the thin black/white wire for a break I think you will find your problem. You should have 12v between it and positive. Good luck.

My diesel vw transporter misfires/splutters on

Both Odometer & Fuel gage needs to be replaced, else the potentiometer of both these need to replaced..........sodeep
