Question about 2005 Lexus RX330

1 Answer

Downshift noise I have an RX 330 2005 and have experienced a noise at 25 mph going down from higher speed. I had the lexus dealer check and they said I needed a new transmission for 5000.00. I did some checking and studied the manual only to find that my transmission fluid was changed twice-47,000 and 80,000 even though the service requirements was no change of this fluid. I wonder if the dealership should have taken the lead in this problem based on what they did. Any ideas will be helpful.

I had the same problem. Initially when I purchased new RX330 I started complaining about acceleration hesitation but Dealer ship did not pay much attention.
Now at 70,000 miles It makes loude noise down shift and reverse.
Lexus should recall for Trasmission.

Spin that wheel by hand as fast as you can. If you can hear the noise coming from right behind the tire it's probably a wheel bearing.

Lexus RX 300 RPM go up when driving at 40 MPH

Is it a standard? If so sounds like the clutch is giving up and needs replacing. If it is an automatic then check fluid level might be low, that can cause slippage.

I have a 1998 Honda Accord 6 with approx 100K miles. Recently it started a mild stumbling at a steady 38 mph. Not sure how else to describe it. It doesn't appear to be missing. If I change to a...

Often as an engine ages and parts wear out rhythmic oscillations can cause a obvious and repeatable noise. Even when new, hitting a resonant frequency (for my personal car holding at 1500-1600rpm causes a terrible noise and vibration) If you're only experiencing sound as a result of the speed it is probably not a major mechanical issue. However, I have had a car before, about the same year as this one, where as it tried to shift gears at about 40mph into fifth gear the engine would bog down, detect low engine speed at prepare to downshift, and would repeat this process. Solution to that was cleaning the fuel injectors (which will run you about 50$ most places.)

The passenger window gets stuck and sometimes does not go up

you can try and reprogram it by holding down on the power window button for 25 seconds and then press up and see if it works. if there is a weird noise or it just wont go up then the mechanism needs to be replaced.

The downshifting is now being done by the "mechanical backup" to the vacuum system

Hope this helps!

Maybe a transmission problem?

If you're only in "D", you should switch to "OD" when driving at higher speeds. "D" only allows you to move up to third gear whereas "OD" will move you into fourth. You're over-working your transmission by driving in "D".
