Question about 1989 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

I drive an hour each way to work. My 1989 Buick LeSabre Limited drives beautifully for about 1/2 an hour. Once it heats up, the "service engine" light comes on the "temp" idiot light flashes and the motor rolls and tries to quit. However, the car gives no indication of a temperature problem (no smoking, smell, expanding hoses, leakes, nothing). I recently replaced the plugs & wires and the cooling sensor. This morning, the weather was much cooler and the car ran like a dream. A friend of mine put a computer on the car and it gave codes indicating an oxygen sensor needed to be replaced and it had a mis-fire. It gave no codes indicating a temporater problem. What do I do now?

Remove battery cables from battery and clean all three of them and the battery side post. Replace bolts. Have seen this a lot working at a buick dealership. One of thee + cables goes to the starter and the other +cable runs the electronics and it appears that you have a bad connection.

Where is taillight fuse on 1989 buick lesabre limited, its not in main fusebox

I believe that model has TWO fuse boxes. One in the glove box and one under the hood on the passengers side. Do you have the owners manual??? It should show where it is. Otherwise, try your local public library for a repair manual on that model Buick.

I have a 2000 buick lesabre. The fix engine soon

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!
Good Luck
