sounds like an issue with your diverter door under your dash is stuck in heat mode. When you turn on a/c, the door should close off the heater core section and open up and let your evaporator (a/c) open . You will have to figure out if its your controller or the door. Older units used cables and had no issues. Yours probably has electronic control /motors, etc.
the flapper door is not closing and opening properly...it is located in the duct work....remove heater control panel and follow the cable to the flapper door
I'm no expert but I had to change my heater core once and we leaked out some of the fluid. we must have got an air pocket in the system because same thing speratic heat. change the thermosstat and make sure to bleed the system using the inline blessed valve..get rid of all the air:) hope this helps
Check the hoses to the heater core and make sure they aren't deteriorated. Also, it might be worthwhile to clean and flush the cooling system.
It's possible there is a problem in the controls for the air conditioning system, too. The various valves in the ducts are vacuum controlled, and if a leak develops, it's possible that cold air is being mixed with the heated air.
Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced. That would be the first place to look. If all teh hoses are not hot, that would be a good indicator.
