Question about Ford Fusion

1 Answer

The key sometimes does not work, turns the engine over but does not start, only happens some time. Problem happened when I took the car to garage to get a high pitched noise that seemed to be coming from the altinator or power steering pump. Think they put the car on an electrics system which seems to have caused the problem.

Depending on how long it has been, take it back to the shop and demand that they check it out! if they're responsible for the problem (and just plain responsible!) they should fix it!
good luck on that! worth a try.

2000 BUICK LESABRE SOMETIME TRYING TO START THE ENGINE TURN KEY WILL NOT TURNOVER,HOLD KEY IN START POSITION FOR 10-15 SEC CAR WILL START THIS HAPPEN 1 OUT 15 TIME.

Is your SECURITY light flashing when this happens? If it is, then you most likely need to replace your ignition tumbler. Otherwise the only advice I have is to scan your engine computer and body control module to see if there are any fault codes.

Turn key all light come on as a normal start. but when key is turned nothing happens. no noise nothing.. keep trying and eventully starts.Sometimes 3 or 4 times.. Sometimes 10 min. later. it can be days...

You didnt list the type of car this is, the most common thing that causes this is the starter, i just had a saturn, the customer had the same problem we told her it may be the starter but cant be 100% sure until it actted up, she didnt want to replace it unless we were sure, so we kept and drove the car around for 5 days and finally the last day it didnt start and it was the starter , same problem turn key and nothing no noise and no start, i would have the starter replaced and go from there, its a mater of time before the car just wont start, hope this is helpful.

I have an R reg Hyundi accent MVI Coupe and suffering serious stress. sometimes it starts sometimes it doesnt. When I put key in ignition and turn it ....nothing happens. it almost appears as if their is...

I have the same model and year Coupe, and have problems starting it sometimes. I'm not sure it's the same problem you're having, as you say nothing happens when you turn the ignition key. On mine the engine turns over but doesn't start. It usually happens if I've been driving, stopped and then tried to drive off again.
In my case it's the ignition lead - to get it going I have to pop the bonnet/hood, pull apart the plugs that connect the two halves of the ignition lead together, then reconnect them.
I'm guessing the plugs are just slightly loose and/or the contacts need cleaning (haven't gotten around to sorting it properly yet). Loose plugs would explain why it's okay until after I've been driving; presumably the plugs get shaken loose during the drive.

Might not be the same problem on yours but it might give you somewhere to start.
Hope it's of some help!

As I got out of the car i grabbed the wheel and it moved left and clicked. Now I cant get the key to turn in ignition and wheel is locked. What do I do?

move the steering wheel while turning the key in the ignition and it should come unlocked. This happens sometimes, its just on a bind. Like i said just turn the steering wheel left and right the little bit that you can and the key will be able to turn.

Car won't start when turned over unless the pedal is feathered

A sticky fuel pressure regulator could cause line pressure drop on hot start. I'd try a good fuel system cleaner like BG's 44K before replacing any part$ tho.

Got a 06 corolla verso D4d T180 sometimes struggles to start. Can take 10-15 seconds of turning over until it goes. It doesn't happen all the time. Dropped it off at a local garage for a day and it...

do you get into car, push key into ignition, then put seat belt on then turn key over???if you do it in this order should there still be a starting fault, could be a preheater going south....the car is fitted with automatic preheaters, they start work when you close the drivers door.(some toyota dealers dont know this)

Starting issue with 2009 CRV

When you brought the crv in for service, did you tell them about this problem? If not, TELL THEM NOW!! Keep a log of when this happens (day, time, description of what happens). You need to keep track of this and let the dealer know about the problem now, before the warranty expires. The log of info when having trouble will help them diagnose the problem, and it is MUCH better to have a detailed list than to say, 'oh, it happens sometimes'. So bring the crv back to dealer for another appointment, explain the trouble, and keep on bringing it back until the problem is fixed. This could be a problem with the starter. When you turn the key to start, a gear in the starter advances on a shaft, meshing with the flywheel, and then it cranks the engine over to start the vehicle. It sounds from your description, that the gear is not always advancing on the shaft all the way to the flywheel every time (the gear will just spin quickly, as there would be no resistance because it is not turning the engine over) and the gear will spin quickly, sort of sounding like the engine is turning over fast, when actually it's just the gear spinning. The grinding sound could be the gear clashing (not meshing smoothly) with the flywheel. You definitely have a problem, so don't stop complaining to the dealer until it's fixed.

You probably caused a short circuit when you changed the light. Change fuse #14. Next time, don't turn the lights on until you are finished changing the lights.
