MFA not working, what should I do

Take the Mass air flow out and clean it with carb cleaner spray, let it dry and put back in. If it is totally dead then get one from the junk yard.

Where is the mfa sensor located on a 2003 ford explorer..

The MAF sensor is the part that is in the air snorkel right next to the air box that the air filter is in. It will have 2 screws holding it to its housing and have a four wire connector going to it.

What dose the mfa button show

The MFA stands for in German "Multifunktionsanzeige" or Multi-Function Computer; which in a nutshell gives you information about the Temperature, Average Fuel-economy (changes with driving style), km's remaining with your current level of gas, and I am not sure if the Golf IV's show "real time fuel consumption" and I believe that on the Golf V's is also shows the Radio station. The buttons on the tip of the wiper control allow you switch through the various settings. Depending on the country the fuel economy will be shown in either l/100km or MPG. Hope this helps, if you have the cars manual then it should all be explained there.

The previous post is untrue! MFA means MultiFunktions Ansiege (pronounced AAN-zeeguh).
This is a German- Americanism for Multi-Function Indicator.

The MFA displays the time, time driven since the ignition was started, miles driven since the ignition was started (trip miles are displayed under the odometer), miles per gallon, average miles per gallon, and outside temperature. I think that's it. If you click the little button on the underside the wiper switch, you can toggle between 2 different trackings. If you HOLD that button, you can re-set the avg. mpg's (but not the current mpg's, they are calculated every 30 yards), time driven, miles driven. Contrary to the previous poster's solution, it does not actually indicate anything is wrong with your car! (but they were right about scrolling through the indications with the side rocker switch) the malfunction indicator is on the cluster, it is a little engine block with a lightning bolt through it. It usually means you need an oil change. If it blinks, you have a catalytic converter problem. Hope this helps.
