Well you will have to take both heads off and have them both service ground and checked out for any problems with cracks as you can have a good look for cracks but you wont find them unless you have the proper equipment ,,then get the Valves reseated before refitting the heads with the correct type of gaskets they are called a VRS
Valve Regrind Set which gives you All the gaskets you need..

How do u repair a blown head gaset on a 1998 cadillac deville

This is the infamous northstar issue. You will need to pull the heads like on any other engine. The only catch is that the head bolts can be corroded and require you to tap and put inserts in the block (usually 3 of 18 need this). This is a big job and I would plan on using the inserts when estimating the cost. Expect to pay ~$1500-1800 at a reasonable private shop.

99 suburban, water leaking into the oil. the dipstick is milky. i had a new water pump installed a few years ago. just put a new serp belt, tensioner and alternator in after the car died on my wife. ran...

Sounds like either a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or a cracked block. The solution would be to determine where the coolant is getting into the oil and address that problem.
