Question about 2004 Ford Ranger

Stalls and does not restart

My 2004 manual transm Ranger sometimes stalls while driving, and now will not start unless I press the fuel pump reset button, sometimes called "enertia" switch. I also replaced the fuel pump/filter, but problem persists. Does anyone know if bypassing this switch is feasible and could solve my problem? Having to press the reset button all the way underneath the passenger's dash each time I want to start the car is a pain, and stalling at +40mph is unsafe...

Check your Fuel Pressure, you may need a fuel pump and a fuel filter.

the inertia switch is only supposed to trip in the event of impact, so unless you are off roading or otherwise jolting the vehicle - the switch may be failing.....

Where is the fuel reset button on my 2004 chev aveo? My car just stalled for no reason. it felt like my engine fell out of my car and then stalled. So my dad took a look at it and thought maybe I might...


Remove the Air breather , put a little fuel into the carb if it starts test to see if there is power to the fuel pump if there is power to the pump you will need a new fuel pump if there is no power to the pump change the fuel pump relay .

they probably have dirt blocking them out
