Hi, do you mean the radiator fan is not working when the engine gets hot if this is the case then it could be one of a couple of things the first and most likely would be the fan sensor switch or sensor the second problem could be that the motor for the fan has shorted out.
Now the thrid problem could be that the thermostat isnt opening causing the engine to over heat if it is the thermostat then the fan wouldnt cut in due to the fact that only the bottom half of the water coolant system is heating up due to the thermostat not opening.

The first thing i would replace is the temp sensor switch for the fan if you order one of these from car spares shop you will then know what it looks like and you should find thiis towards the front of the engine with one or two wires coming from it it will look like a metal plug but buying the new one would show you what your looking for making your job easier.

Replacing this part should solve your problem if not then let me know then i can assist you further with testing the thermostat etc.

Their is an outside chance that it could be head gasket failure as well but we will talk about this once you have ruled out the fan switch being at fault.

Let me know how you get on ok or if you need further assistance ok.

The fan switch should solve your problem let me know if not then we can talk about what else it could likely be.

Many thanks for using fixya

If water pump is old, like over 70,000 miles on it,replace it when you do the fan belt and tensioner.
A new thermostat and a radiator flushing might also be in order. don-ohio (:^)

No power to blower switch

I don't know what your working on but if you don't have power to the heat switch it is a fuse, you should have one inside and one under the hood.I don't know what kind or the year of car..

I don't have a condenser in my pick-up trunk, so I don't have AC, is this also why I don't have heat or heat/AC fan does not come on

checked the fuse for the blower motor. if the fuse is good check for power at the motor. the blower motor is behind the golve box.

1989 ford f 150 i been driving and the engine stop fuel have don't start

could be fuel pump, check for fuel see if fuel pump supplying fuel and you are getting spark.make sure ignition timing is correct and the idle speed setting correct check the under hood emissions information label.also check engine make sure engine not over heating check cooling fan clutch see if cooling fan clutch is okay by turning it by hand if engine is hot cooling fan should have resistance if engine is hot, if cooling fan feel loose no resistance the fan clutch is bad.

My coolant fans don't work. What should I look for? I'm bringing it to a repair shop a mile away. Will it be safe to drive it that far? The temperature here is about 100 degrees outside now.

Hi,
If you start out with a cold engine, the Bonneville should not overheat traveling one mile, with out the A/C on.
If you are in stop and go traffic, roll your windows down, turn heater on high temp and high fan, and shut the Bonneville off at stop lights.
Watch the heat gauge.
The coolant fans not working may be a fuse, relay, or temperature sending unit switch.
Best Wishes,
Wayne

I have a 2003 camery le six cylender with double fans that is over heating . On the highway the temp gauge stays in the middle section but in stop and go traffic it starts to rise and the air conditioner...

stop and go traffic will make the car heat up,, make sure you have air flow through the radiator fins, also make sure that the ac fan is actually engaging the fans work on a sensor and if they don't work, neither does the fan.

My fan don't come on .

thers afew thing you can check (fan no good at all, wireing problem or faulty, fan fuse, not comunication between heat sensor and fan.i mean if the heat sensor is not working properly tthe electronic system wont let fan know when to start. so you can start checking those essues 1 by1 and may sure each 1 of them are working properly .that will be the easy way to start looking for this problem.if you find any of this working wrong , then you just found the problem resolved.good luck
