The float on your fuel pump is not working right the only cure is to replace the float not pump just the float and you will need to drop the fuel tank to do so.

Had the same problem with my Explorer. Yes - the part is expensive, and if you do not replace it you will spend lots of time filling your tank trying to get it full.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 V6 with MFI. Engine ran not start.

Well it could be numerous if things but you want suggestions...So here's mine..Your gas tank might be vapor locked...This is caused from over filling your gas tank with gas over the years..Its when the pressure in your gas tank becomes greater than your fuel pump. It wont start until the pressure in your gas tank becomes lower then you fuel pump...Sounds crazy...This got me once...I didn't understand it...A lot of people (including me) Go to the gas station and get that extra 50 cent after the gas nozzle clicks off...over time that extra gas will run down the vapor lines intended to burn fumes....Like when you fill a gas can to cut your grass...If you sake the gas can it builds pressure and bows up. But with time that pressure will go away...Well saying that...Your gas tank needs to vent to....So your car burns not only gas but fumes...If you keep over filling your car with the extra gas it cloggs up your vapor canister intended for fumes or vapors...The gas will will go into that canister and clogg up the charcoal that's inside it. (Breaks it down) then the vapors can't get to your carburetor where it supposed to burns it. So what happens is the pressure in the gas tank becomes greater than your fuel pump and then car won't start..Are you with me? Lol Its crazy..Putting a different gas cap can cause the same thing...Simple test...When you open your gas cap to get gas.. Do you heat air sucking in.. Yes you can hear it....A lot of times loosening the cap let's the pressure out and the car will start right up.....Thus might not be your problem but worth telling at the gas pumps to other people..... Just trying to help

Just got my 2000 VW New Beetle with 3/4 tank of gas. Drove it 36 miles and its below 1/2 tank. Could it be the gas that they put in? Or something wrong with the car itself?

On just about every vehicle I have ever seen, the fuel gauge will move faster from 1/2 to 1/4 (I never let a tank run past 1/4. Bad for the fuel pump) than from full to 3/4 or 3/4 to 1/2.
Do a mileage check. Fill the tank until the pump stops, reset your trip or note your odometer miles. Dive a few days or a number of miles. Fill the tank again until the pump stops and not the amont it took to fill. Note the number of miles you put on and do the math.

Won't take gaskeeps clicking off no matter where you position the nozzle

If your fuel nozzle keeps clicking off while trying to fuel your gas tank then you may have a problem with your fuel tank pressurizing and releasing the pressure. Meaning your tank vent valve may be bad or stuck closed. this is part of your cars emission system and the only real way to check it is have someone with a scanner access the system on your car and check it. A technician can activate the different valves and switches in the system, check it for codes or other problems using a scanner with the proper software for your vehicle. Something you may can do yourself is just look at the hoses going to and from your fuel tank ensuring none are disconnected, collapsed or kinked, this could cause problems also. Hope that helps.

2004 hyundai accent. trouble filling gas tank

I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent, It is not possible to fill the tank if you are letting the petrol pump run at full speed.Trying to fill up quickly it will only build up pressure and cut off. Next time you fill up just pull the petrol pump handle half way, it will take longer to fill but you wont get the blow back. Modern petrol pumps are getting quicker all the time.Hope this helps you.
