The driver side window on my 2003 pontiac sunfire wont takes about 2 hours to go up. Is it the motor in the door, or an electrical problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it myself?

It can be the motor drier that has failed as you can use an external jumper wire to connect to the motor to see if this works, if so use a wire to a switch and operate it manually.
If the motor is faulty then you will need to manually turn the grooves to let the glass up .... but you can open the motor and clean the brushes to contact the commutator so as to repair it for the time being ...just take a try.
probably motor.take screws out of inside door handle and anywhere else you can find them attached to door.gently pry on seams of door for access.they are usually just pop in type clips.they take a little force but will come out.once you get past door cover, there may be metal cross beams underneath but you should be able to get access to motor.
Same problem. I had the driver window go first and then the passenger. You must replace the motors. Moisture has gotten into the motor and rusted parts of it. New motor cost be $55. It took two people (myself and a friend) a good 8 hours to extract old motor and install the new one.
I replaced the window motor on the drivers door on my 02 Sunfire.
was a big pia .. you have to drill out the huge pop rivets and squeeze the motor and assembly out of the door.. The motor is then again riveted to the arm assembly. I used bolts to put the motor back on the arm, but had to buy the big pop rivets and a big pop rivet gun to put the door back together.. All in all a big PIA.. I would take it to a shop.. imo..
most likely the electric motor that raises and lowers the window is defective, u will need to remove the door panel and replace the window motor, about a 2 hour job and $100 in parts.
the only way i know is if the motor is still good, is to use a jumper wire to the motor.
1. remove the door panel
2. reach in the door and find where the connector connects to the motor, and take it loose
3take 2 pieces of wire take one from the contact closest to the inside the car to the battery. take the other from the contact to the outside the car and rou to a good ground.
4. if the motor is good it should go up.
If the motor is no good the only way I know is to remove the motor, pull the window up by hand, and then some how support it in the up posisdtion bacause the window will not stay up on its own.
if the motor is bad and its not a problem in the wiring, you are gonna have to remove the motor and pull or push the window up by hand, then you need to support the window to keep it from falling down. if the motor bolts in you can bolt it back in to keep it up. if not you can sometimes use a heavy duty zip tie around the track arms to hold it up. i would not recommend the duct tape i see a lot of people use. but thats your call. hope this was helpful.
The glass has to be taken out first. 2 X 10 MM nuts. Knock out rivet centers and drill out rivets. It will come out the port in the door. Reverse procedure and you will be done.
