I know I can''t pass inspection now, I need to know the driving cycle or OBD2 codes to get it to pass. Can you give me the instructions for the driving cycle. There is nothing else wrong with the car.

I had to replace the connectors to the battery in my car a 2004 Nissan Sentra. There was nothing else such as check engine light or any thing else wrong with the car. Now my car won't pass inspection because of taking the battery out to replace connectors. I need the driving cycle instructions to get the computer on the car to reset so I can pass inspection. I did this last year on our Toyota van because I found the obd codes on the internet. It was a long list of driving instructions which some how reset the computer and it passed inspection, that is what I need for my car.

If the check engine light is not on then you don't have to scan the computer to get the codes. just do what you did last year with your toyota. do as many drive cycles as you can and with is two days you should be fine!

if the check engine light is on then you can go to auto zone and they can scan your computer for free!

let me know if you have any more question.

good luck

okay what you need to do is two to three drive cycles of 20 to 30 min. of highway driving keeping the car above 50mph and then 20 to 30 min. of city driving keeping the speed below 45 mph. that is one drive cycle and once your done doing one drive cycle turn the car off restart it then repeat the process. this all has to be done with the gas tank inbetween 1/4 to 3/4 of gas.

this is a usally driving cycle for most people so if you drive your car a few days you sould be all set. but three drive cycles with the gas at that level should be fine.

if you have any more question please ask.

The best way is to disconect the battery from the car for about 10 - 15 mint.s. This should reset the codes BUT you will have to complete what is called a * Drive cycle *- you have top drive so many miles in a trafic situation like normal driving for aprox 50 to 70 miles. Or take it to a local parts store and get them to read the codes. They can not clear them - but they can tell you what is going on. You may have a bad part. If you disconect the battery - to clear the codes, you will have to complete the drive cycle before it can be inspected. If the codes come back you have a real problem - ie bad Ox. sensor or the like.

How to reset a computer on a mercury cougar 2001

Use a OBD2 fault code reader or scanner to reset the system. A full wipe is done by disconnecting the battery negative cable for 5 min's. I do not recommend this as you will then loose all stored and learned engine and transmission data and have to perform an OBD2 drive cycle test to complete/pass any emission testing required.

How to get codes back after replacing battery

Hi there,

I'm assuming you are referring to your vehicle's on-board diagnostic codes?????

When replacing the battery (i.e. disconnecting power from the vehicle), this will RESET your vehicle's OBD computer.

When the computer is reset, NO CODES should be present, UNLESS the computer has detected a fault.

OBD2 works for getting codes causing check engine light.
Cannot communicate to NYS DMV to receive inspection.
It will pass inspection. No check engine lights or codes. Problem is communication with inspection machine.

I still do not know the answer to the problem.

Oxygen Sensor

if you had it replaced it should have already been set however you can reset your cars computer by taking the positive battery cable off the battery and waiting 2-3 min and then touching the positive cable from the car to the negative cable which is still attached to the neg post on the battery for about 5 sec and the hooking it back up. that will reset the computer which would configure any new sensors. when the computer reads a bad code it bypasses that sensor so your car will run. it wont run to the best of its ability though - that's why you didn't pass an inspection. when you replaced the sensor the computer didn't notice because it already stopped reading that sensor when it went bad and doesnt know about the new one. when you reset the computer as i told you then it will read the new sensor and work properly.
