You have a power wire grounding out on the frame or on the engine from the alternator, could also have a bad ground causing the issue.

If all you did was replace the alternator it should be in that local area. I know that most of the New or Rebuilt alternators for these vehicles comes with a pigtail in the box, These have to be changed due to the old plugs shorting out and burning up the alternator and the plug. If your new alternator did not come with one you should go back to the parts house and ask them for it.

'99 Ford Crown Vic LX: #12 30A Maxi fuse blows seconds after starting or ignition turned on.

i had this problem with my 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo with the brake lights it kept popping fuses right after the ignition was turned on try putting a higher amp fuse in place of the old one that keeps blowing then check for shorts to the starter and check grounds and wires and also the transmission issue check the fluid and then if the fluid is fine change the transmission filter the filter may have not gotten replaced when the transmission was rebuilt and may be clogged or dirty

20A starter fuse? There is a heavy black/red wire that connects directly to the starter. The 120A FUSIBLE LINK 1 protects the charging circuit. There are two white wires that are connected to 30A FUSIBLE LINK 8. From there, power goes to the ignition switch and from the switch to the park/neutral position switch. That switch output is applied to the starter.

My taurus keeps blowing meaga fuse even after changing alternater and alternater wire what could be the problem

It really sounds like a major short in the wire going into the mega fuse box. I would just start tracing the positive wires ,I would start at the starter and work my way to the alternator, battery ,and fuse box. It takes a lot of current to blow one of those 60 amp fuses so I would expect to be one of the thicker wires causing the short and you will probably see arc marks where the wire touched the frame causing the short. Well I hope this can help you out.

If the battery is new.

If you jump start it but then it will not start after being run then the alternator could be your problem. Alternatively the ECU could be another problem.
