Location of oil pressure sensor for 2005 H2 Hummer


The oil pressure sensor is behind the intake manifold. Remove the plastic cover on top of the engine. The intake manifold is the large black plastic piece under the cover. Reach in behind the intake manifold to access the oil pressure sensor. The pictures supplied show the view from the back of the engine, as if you are viewing from the firewall side of the engine

How is oil getting into my intake manifold


All vehicles are equipped with a PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve that is located on top of a valve cover and connected to the intake manifold with a rubber hose. When the engine is running, there is some pressure from the combustion chambers that gets past the piston rings and into the crankcase. This is known as blowby. The PCV valve allows this pressure to be relieved and vented into the intake manifold. A thin film of oil will form in the intake manifold since the hot gases from the crankcase contain an oil vapor that cools and condenses once it is in the cooler air of the manifold.

Instructions

1. Removal

Unscrew the bolt that holds the negative connection to the Impala's battery. Set this bolt aside for later use.

Remove the engine cover to access the intake manifold and manifold gasket. Disconnect the throttle body inlet duct from the engine.

Twist off the radiator cap to allow draining of the coolant to flow more smoothly. Place an empty container beneath the radiator's drain plug, and remove this plug. Allow all of the engine coolant to drain into the empty container. Replace the drain plug once you are finished.

Tag all of the electrical wiring and hoses before removing so that reconnection is precise to factory settings. Remove these parts, individually, from the intake manifold.

Loosen the bolts that hold the intake manifold to the Impala's engine block. Lift the intake manifold from the block once all bolts have been completely removed.

Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the old intake manifold gasket from the engine block. Discard this part once you have removed it.

Clean the engine block thoroughly with the engine degreaser and linen cloth. If necessary, use a gasket scraper to remove excess buildup and grime.

2. Installation

  • Coat the top and bottom of the new intake manifold gasket with a chemical sealer so that it bonds to the engine block securely. Position this new manifold gasket so that it lines up perfectly with the cylinder ports of the Impala's engine block.

Place the old intake manifold on top of the newly-installed manifold gasket until it aligns with all of the holes of the cylinder flanges and manifold gasket.

Attach all of the bolts with your hand to the manifold. Once all bolts have been positioned, use a torque wrench and apply 15 foot-pounds of pressure to the bolts to secure the manifold into place.

Reconnect all of the necessary hoses and electrical wiring to the intake. Pour the engine coolant back into the radiator.

Reattach the engine cover on top of the intake manifold and engine block. Start the Impala's engine and check for any leaks around the new intake manifold gasket.

I need to know how to set my cam in time so my car will start



to begin with timing a camshaft, the motor needs to be set at top dead center of the compression stroke. If you are unsure what this means, remove the valve cover on the driver side, rotate the crank pulley with a 32 mm socket, until you see the intake valve, which is the second valve spring, begin to compress. When I say compress, this means the valve spring is opening the valve. As the valve spring begins to close, the piston will be approaching the top of its travel. The crank shaft pulley/harmonic balancer, will have a mark to indicate top dead center on the timing cover. This Mark will align with the TDC mark on the timing cover just after the intake valve spring closes. Next, using a half inch wrench, remove the distributor and set to the side. With a flashlight, look down inside at the oil pump driveshaft. It will have a slot in the center of the gear. This slot should be pointing towards the number one intake manifold bolt hole. It will almost be front to back.


If it is not, using a long flat blade screwdriver, rotate the oil pump driveshaft clockwise until the slot lines up with the number one intake manifold bolt hole. Reinstall the distributor and snug the half inch bolt down. The rotor should be pointing towards the number one cylinder mark on the distributor plate. Reinstall the distributor cap and try to fire the motor over.

Drilled hole in intake manifold at upper radiator outlet


Did the bolt break off flush with the top of the hole? or if you remove the cover is some bolt sticking up? if there is try and use vice grips to get ahold if the bolts if it is flush then drill the bolt out and re-tap the hole. Way cheaper and likely less work too...

Oil on top of lower intake manifold


Its a common problem, but it has to be adressed before your engine is done. That oil is comming out wear the distributor wonce was. The plentem, or what you call upper intake will have to come back off, in order to get the plug out to chg. the rubber O- ring on the plugWhen you get it out it will look like half a distributor with the gear on the end and the O- ring towards the top. Its located right under the throuttle on left side of engine where the trans and block meat. There might be enought room to get it out without pulling the intake i'am not sure. But thats where the oil is comming from manny an engine has tied up because of that leak.
