Starter bolt stripped. Helicoil or tap?

Either way ,is a lot of work. First thing I would try is a little bit longer bolt. Take a screw driver and push into the stripped hole to determine how long you can go.Even 1/4 inch more threads might be enough to hold starter secure. A little sealer on threads would be good.. If all that fails ,try to oversize the bolt and retap.Make sure the oversize bolt will go through the starter. I have had good success with J B WELD [brand] to drill and retap. Just make sure the surface is clean

I have a 1991 nissan 300zx 5spd manual wont start i have full power in the dash i have check the clutch pedal for the safety switch and little activation button all is ok can you help

check the starter solenoid and the starter connections. if either of them burned up the car wouldnt start.... wait... is it turning over or no? if not then check your power transistor unit on the passenger side timing cover. could also cause it to not start..

How to remove a 1989 nissan 300zx starter

Changing StarterIts easy, jack the car up, secure the car with in the up position do not just rely on the jack to hold it up and you will see the starter on the passenger side of the car, its held on with 2 bolts. Disconnect the battery first, then loosen and remove the 2 bolts holding the starter in place. Slide the starter out, disconnect the wires coming from the battery. Reverse the procedure to replace the starter.

Can't get the starter out of a 1991 Nissan pickup.

The second bolt is hidden way up and tucked in near the solenoid. You need to setup a ratchet with extensions/socket (14mm) combination that is just a little longer than the starter motor. If you just can't picture where the bolt is, then go down to the parts store and look at/purchase the replacement starter to see how it mounts up.
There are two bolts for the starter mount and one nut for the main starter power lead. There is one plug for the starter key switch.
Disconnect plug. Loosen lower bolt. Remover upper bolt. Remove lower bolt. Twist starter so you can remove main power cable nut (be sure to have disconnected the battery first!) Pull starter.
