Why is battery not working?

If you don't have the equipment to check the system take it to Auto Zone, etc, and have them check the system. Just because it is a new part doesn't insure it is good. They can also run a check for the codes. Both checks should be without charge.

What could be causing my van to pull so much power

First of all, is alternator charging the battery. Battery voltage when engine is off, should be at least 12.6 or better at battery posts.less than 12.4 with engine off. Battery is going bad. When engine is running at battery should be at least 13.8 to 14.2 or more if alternator is charging. You can go to any auto parts store, and get the charging system checked for free Advanced auto, Auto-zone, ETC, Good-Day! if battery and alternator are good. Heres how to check for a current drain. Disconnect negative terminal from battery, Hook a test light to the negative cable. connect opposite end of test light to battery negative post . wait at least 5 minutes, with test light hooked up. if light is on. Then start pulling fuses in fuse box, when the light goes out. thats the problem circuit.

Put a new battery the car battery light wont go off when the car is turned off>

Be sure to get a free charging system check at your local auto parts...ie Auto Zone etc...You still have a problem...the belt may be worn or slipping, or the alternator may be underproducing. Please don't get stranded...follow this warning...

Check charging system light came on in 2006 f 150 what to check

First check wired connections, and terminals to alternator and battery. If connections appear to be good with nothing feeling loose, and terminals appear to be clean of corrosion. I than suggest you to take your truck to your local Advanced Auto Parts. Ex. Auto Zone or O'Reilly's, and they will perform a free alternator/battery load test. Which will determine whether it is a bad alternator or battery. These are the only major components of the charging system.

Batt light stays on, what's the prob. How do i check?

  • your battery light is on because your alternator is going out to to double check start the car and pull the negative battery cable off if the car dies then you need a new alternator that’s a really good way to check if the care douse no die then take your alternator to an AutoZone and have the Ambridge checked but that’s the only reason your batt light will come on is a bad alternator

Is my alternator bad??

You are definately not charging. Have you lost your alternator belt? If not, then yes, your alternator is probably bad. After you connected the new battery, did the problem stop? The reason I ask, is if you have a bad connection the battery can't charge properly. You can have your alternator tested for free at Advance or Auto Zone. Good Luck. Hope this helps!

1997 ford taurus GL battery light stays on or sometimes dim alt. checks o.k. what is the problem.

When you say it check ok, can you please explain what you mean in more detail, because if your Alternator light comes on or is dim, your alternator is likely not producing enough amps to fully charge the battery. The battery may test good, but the alternator has to work too hard to keep it charged. Have a check run on the amperage output on your alternator to see if it produces the factory recommended amperage. You can get a tester or probably borrow one from Auto Zone auto parts if there is one near you. If not, you can buy an amp tested from your local auto parts store or you can take it to your local shop and they might test it for free.
