Try to start it in neutral. the trans. has a safety switch that will not allow the car to start in anything, but park and neutral. sometimes the shift lever gets a little out of line with the gear indicator. also try firmly shifting into and out of park a few times. this may flip the switch. good luck

I have 98 grand prix ignition is stuck in start had to pull fuel pump fuse but cant shut car off lights are still on

Suggest disconecting the battery. Then you can work on the problem. it is not clear if the issue is the key stuck in the start position in the iginition switch or if the starter motor is stuck (running) after the car starts. If it the starter motor is running... Time for a new starter. If it is the ignition switch, try
pushing the key in and turning back off. Still stuck? Try pulling pn the key and turning off. Either way, if it is the key, yime for a new ignition switch.

Remove and replace an iginition switch for a 2003 Chevy S-10. Key turns but vehicle does not start. Already checked the Battery, fuse, Starter, and Coil.

Check to see if your truck has a programmable key. It is also called a PATS key. If this is the case the you will have to have the key programmed to your trucks anti theft system. If it does have anti theft there should be a light on the dash that lights up saying anti-theft. Hope this helped. You can call a Chevrolet dealership and give them your VIN number to see if your truck has the PATS system. Also on the old key if it has a little silver looking **** just below where you attach it to a key ring then that is the chip and it is PATS.

Bmw e36 immobilised, iginition lights come on, but the starter wont turn over. how do i start the car to get it to a garage, i dont wont to pay the £70 for recovery truck

BMW E36 immobilizer Hope the following will help. Had similar problems. The transmitter buttons on keys is for central locking and alarm. Inside the key at the front there is a small electronic/magnetic chip that looks like a block. About 8mm long, 2mm deep and 4mm wide, not connected to any pc board. This is the immobilizer. It must match the receiver that is located behind the ignition switch. If it is loose and too far away from the receiver it won?t deactivate it. If you made a spare key it will switch on electrics but won?t start the car. If you don?t have an immobilizer chip any alarm shop will be able to program a new chip or install a new pair for your keys. There is a way to disable the immobilizer but rather have it fix and protect your car. I read an article somewhere (perhaps bmw e36 blog) of people removing this immobilizer. Good luck

When removing the iginition switch and putting a new one in it tripped the security computer chip or code. It will not reset wondering how to reset it.

did u use the correct key value? there are like 20 different numbers, they are not chips but just a piece of resistive wire. U have to use the correct key for your car, you find this out by measuring the resistance of the wire insert in your old key.
