If it is just low now it may just be age and needs to be flushed and changed. If the problem is always there and you are not over filling the system cjheck your overflow. Also pressure test the system for leaks don't just look. Check it under pressure, leak may be very slow and will only show up under pressure. Also if all that checks fine watch for white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. That will indicate coolant in the exhaust.

Heating has stoped working and there is a little water in the oil, think radiator may be leaking, does my car just need a new rad

water in the oil will turn the oil brown like mud,is that what you see? if so,then you have a blown head gasket,do not run motor if this is the case as the motor wiil spin a crank bearing or lock up.are you sure about the water in the oil? look for real brown oil just like mud with bubbles on the oil dipstick. if the heats stopped working it may be because the radiator's low on fluid. look in the radiator for low coolant,if you can't see the coolant when you remove the radiator cap,it's low. with engine cool, remove the radiator cap 1st then start the engine. do you see steam and fluid blowing up frome the radiator? if so,you have a blown head gasket in the motor. head gaskets can blow and leak water into the oil or oil into the radiator. or blow and leak into the exhaust sysytem and blow coolant out of the tail pipe. three different ways for a head gasket to blow. usually the head gasket only blows when the engine has been run really hot!!! hope this helps.thank you for choosing fixya .com

Do i change engine coolant

Check to make sure the coolant fan is coming on...pressure test the system to make sure that there isn't any leaks, make sure water pump is circulating the coolant, check hose going into the thermostat (when it is boiling over) to see if it is solid...this is a good sign that the thermostat is sticking and will need changed. Check to see that the coolant temp sensor is working...usually, if the fan is making, it is working properly. If the fan isn't making, you can jump the coolant temp sensor connector with a paper clip to see if the computer is recognizing the sensor if it is the fan will come on. If it does come on, there is a good chance that the CTS itself is bad. Don't overlook the radiator cap, it can be loosing pressure causing the problem. Last, if it has ran overheated too long, you will need to do a compression test to make sure that the head gasket isn't blown.

2000 old intrique using alot of water/coolant and

If steam is coming out of the exhaust it is probably the head gasket. I take it you are adding a lot of water so you have a big leak or a blown gasket. Check to see if water is getting in the oil, another sign of gasket leak.

An old, unanswered request - if you have found the problem, tell us the results and it will be in the database for others.
No idea on the speedometer problem but if you are adding coolant too often and haven't found the leak, you may have a blown headgasket. Check your oil for any sign of water contamination; it will cause the oil in severe cases to look like hand lotion. Check your coolant reservoir for any odor of exhaust fumes. Checking your plugs for any signs of rust is also a good idea.
Keep a close eye on your water temperature until you find the leak because if there is a path between the coolant passages and a cylinder, it will blow hot gases into the water without any sign of the engine missing or misfiring (at first) while running and will **** coolant into a cylinder when the engine is off and it cools down.
