Question about 2005 Toyota Corolla
Recently I started hearing this whistle noise coming from what seems to be the top of the dash above the radio. It only happens if I hit 70 or more MPH, I have turned off the radio disconnected everything i could think of but still have the noise. In a way it sounds as if wind is blowing through a very tiny hole. I thought it may be the windshield but could not find anything that suggests that. Need some help, any suggestions. I have a manual transmission 2005 toyota corolla.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi, 2possible suggestions that will help you, when dealing with a wind noise it is almost always visible in the affected area by seeing a redich resedue caused by entering dust particles,
you could also use''masking'' duckt tape to seal off all your suspect areas(starting with the r/h section of the windshield) then by trail and error systematically remove piece by piece of this tape untill your noise is located, then you can decide on what to do with the ''leak''

when the check engine light comes on, your car goes into a mode where instead of everything being normal, things are forced, to try and compensate for something else being wrong. It most likely does need a new timing belt, and a complete tuneup INCLUDING plugs and wires. we have a 1984 toyota corolla and it purrs like ground rice, I suggest the tuneup to continue proper rice production.

First I need to ask is it a 4 speed or a 3 speed transmission. If it's a 4 speed when driving down the road pull it from drive to third gear. You shpuld hear the engine speed up if it does not then that means you have on 4th gear and you will have to take it to a transmission shop. If it's a 3 speed then just count the shift points if all 3 gears are present then drive down the road and see if the van goes into tcc. When you mean the rpms are high how high are they.

I had a problem with a whistling car after 50 mph and it turned out to be the front window gasket. I put silicone on the trim and problem solved.
