IF you dont see gas puddles, it could be emissions cannister that is having a problem. Might be expired or it might be having a valve sticking open. See if there is an autoparts store that reads the error codes for free.

Doesn't it seem odd to you, that two mechanics can't seem to get
involved enough to try and at least sound like they know the business
their in?

You didn't say what leaks,where it is,how,when,etc

Did they say the leak is fixable?

The EGR Valve, hoses & such, would be a good place to start

Why didn't they do that?

All this talk & no attempt to resolve a thing

We get thousands of people a week on this site alone,
what is going on with these shops, any idea?

I got a 91 lexus ls 400 i love it its great, but its calling for a egv vac sensor and a temp sensor, why? when i put gas it sounds like its sucks up air..can anybody help me?

the temp sensor is attached to the egr valve not uncommon to replace the vsv when replacing egr components great cars and if you feel so strongly about keeping it in top running condition i would say put a few parts on and drive the wheels off hope this helps ease your mind please rate

1996 Chevy Lumina EGV Valve Replacement

I believe you mean the EGR valve

If this is a 3.1 Liter,..it's located on the drivers side, on top of the engine. It's bolted down with (2) bolts, mounted vertically, and has a wiring harness attached to the top of it. It has a black plastic top, circular in shape, about 4 inches tall. After removing it, invert to show underside & try cleaning the orifice (with the recessed screw) with a soft brass brush & carb' cleaner....to remove the carbon build-up which causes poor running & "service engine soon" light to display. If carefully removed, the gasket can be re-used,..if it gets damaged, one can be purchased at a automotive parts supply.

If you plan on doing a lot of your own work on this van, I suggest buying a Haynes or a Chilton Manual from a local car parts store for you van, they can give you instructions on everything
