Question about 1995 Dodge Dakota

Open Question

1995 dodge dakota 4 wheel drive...while driving oil pressure dropped light came on no oil pressure...kept driving thinking it was just the gauge started to hear lifter noise, shut off truck restarted oil pressure came back and lifter noise gone. This problem happens internmittenly and usually goes away with a shut down and restart...is this an oil pump, sending unit, or just a cloged oil pickup problem?

if light is not working then first try this
* move ignition switch to on position, remove oil pressure sensor pin and touch it to engine body where it should get earthing, and same time oil light should come on, if it is not then that wire is disconnected some where in loom .

Driving down the road my truck stalls and the oil

First you must find the engine oil pressure sensor, remove the sensor and repalce it with a gauge. Run the engine until hot and record the reading if the reading is between12 and 25 PSI replace the sensor, if the pressure continually drops as the engine warms up then you have a major issue, meaning there is serious engine wear and a rebuild is nesassary.

1995 Jaguar XJ6 oil pressure gauge

This is OK. Oil pressure is always higher when the engine is cold.

As an engine accumulates miles the pressure will start to drop due to bearing clearances increasing.

If this just started to happen you may want to replace the oil filter and or oil pressure sending unit.

it might be a fuse under the hood or fuse panel or connection to the gauges them selves
