My cap/shell of my passenger sidemirror is missing. Can I replace it?

Fit new main bearings with out removing motor


Not easy to get away with the crank get hot and most of the time
get marked or hot spots replacing bearing maybe a short time fix
ive done it .take emery. Cloth and shine the crank up as much as you can .if bearing spun forget it replace crank .good luck

it can be done but you will need knowledge to do it . basically remove the sump. remove all the main caps except the front one and the last one . Remember which way they came out as they will not reverse on reassembly . Now loosen off the front and rear caps about 1/8 th inch . This will allow you to push the bearing shell above the crank around until you can pull it off the journal . Observe the shell position in the cap as there is a locating tag and you push it in the direction that pushes it out first. Replacement is the reverse process putting the tag end in last. When most of the shell have been replaced then refit the caps up to where then the front and rear mains were and do them . When done re tension the caps. As I said you will need some mechanical knowledge to do it but it can be done.

Replace rod bearings


Undo the big end caps and make sure that you keep them as units as they will not interchange with each other press on the end of the shell that does not have a tab sticking out. and press it down so that it slides around and out . Clean out the cap and con rod end before fitting new shells in place . Fit the tag end first and when almost in you may hear a small snap as they go into place proper.. The cap will only go together in one way so the numbers or marks will be together. If you have the motor apart make sure that the con rod is fitted in the right direction.

if you have a rebuild kit. the specs are listed in the instructions.. if not call the parts store with engine info and they can tell you...

No start with key. starts with soleniod to starter crossover. battery full charge. electric trunk latch stopped working.sidemirror control stopped working. radio keeps blowing fuse.


I had a camaro that did something similar but different. This one would run and start, but some thigs quit working. There was a fusible link down by the starter that burned out. I replaced it and everthing was fine.

I have a miss fire


Recheck the firing order; 1-6-5-4-3-2

On the distributor passenger side radiator to fire wall. 2-4-6-coil
On the distributor drivers side radiator to fire wall. 3-1-5

Cylinder passenger side radiator to fire wall. 2-4-6
Cylinder drivers side radiator to fire wall. 1-3-5

Good luck and also check the distributor cap again for proper seating.

nothing is attached at the top of the door panel, just try lifting it but be sure you remove the cover of the sidemirrors to ease up the lifting. hope this helps

Runs with a miss


I would recheck the timing first. iven it is off readjust. if this doesn't solve it ,then replace the knock sensor which is located on the back of the engine just where the trans and block connect on the passenger side. if the problem still exists then it's most likely an internal problem involving a worn cam/lifter. if a lobe on the cam or a lifter is severly worn your valves don't open like they should thus causing a miss.
