Well maybe,...... the code is a trans code (slipping) but it may fail just because the light is on. if you clear the code, it will still fail because the monitors will not have all run. ask the shop that is doing the emission testing, they should be able to answer your question.

Went for a smog check; failed with trouble codes P0300, P1441 and P1870? What do the codes indicate. I have a 1996 Camaro RS w/ v-6 3800, auto.

P1441 CHEVROLET - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge
P0300 - Cylinder Misfire Detected Random Cylinders
Possible causes- Faulty spark plug 1
- Faulty ignition coils
- Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coils poor electrical connection
- Clogged or faulty fuel injectors
- Injectors harness is open or shorted
- Injectors poor electrical connection
- Improper spark plugs
- Insufficient cylinders compression
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Intake air leak
if you noticed that the closes relation those two have to each other has to do with a leak possible vacuum leak. look for hoses or grommets that are very soft, loose, cut or disconnected. the other code P1870 pertains to a transmission component slipping you should not need that for a smog check to pass

The service engen soon light is on it a 1997 Chevrolet truck K1500 4WD pickup 5.7 8Cyl Emissions-related Powertrain DTCs, Mode 3: Electronic Control Unit ID: 10 P1870 Manufacturer specifc...

Code P1870 is a transmission code for excessive slipage. this can be caused by allot things inside the transmission. clutch wear, seals worn out. some checking will be required. the first thing to do, is have the vehicle driven with a scan tool that reads real time data. just a code reader. this will pinpoint the problem to the inside of the tranmission. in some cases just a replacement valve body inside the trans will correct this code. another way you can handle this, drop the transmsission pan down, if there is allot of debris in the body of the pan, then you can pretty much count on a complete overhaul of transmission

Code p 1870 comes up at emissions need help getting it off. Truck runs fine

Diagnostic trouble code P1870 (Transmission Component Slippage) is a General Motors-specific code whose set parameters are determined by transmission type and engine size. The PCM monitors and compares engine speed to vehicle speed after the converter clutch has been commanded ON in either high gear or Overdrive. Should the expected rpm ratio exceed predetermined parameters, DTC 1870 sets. And upon doing so, the PCM elevates the transmission main line pressure and stops converter clutch apply.

Code P1870 What is P1870

The code description for P1870 is "transmission component slipping" and usually means that the computer has detected a difference between what the input speed is and output shaft speed should be under certain conditions and tagged it as a slipping component. Usually it means that a clutch pack [usually direct drive clutch] or band isn't holding under a load and has started to slip. Sometimes the slippage can be observed on a scan tool during a road test but if the slippage is bad enough it may be noticable just driving it. Low transmission fluid level could cause this problem so make sure you check it before going any further. If it turns out that there is interal slippage then the transmission would have to come out and be repaired.
