I have a 1992 dodge Ram 250 w/Cummins Diesel. The intake heater stopped working when temp's are cold. At first the problem was intermitent, now it fails all the time. Where do I start?

Also there is an air sensor and an air temp sensor. when the air sensor is plugged in and air temp sensor both are plugged in, it fails. If you unplug the air sensor, but not the temp sensor it then works but won't turn off. These sensors are shown in owners manual.

There should be a fuse for the heater, locate it and check it out. Check also the wires going to the block heater, if problem started intermittently , then you may have a bad connector. The heater replacement cord is part: Cummins, 3923050.

The sensors should be mass airflow sensor and air intake temperature sensor. If heater works when sensor is not plugged , then it is not the cord, but the sensor that should be AIT sensor. replace air intake temperature AIT sensor.

My 1992 dodge ram power 250 cummins turbo diesel wont charge replaced alt and battery and still wont charge what can be my problem?

My 1992 Cummins W250 auto trans turned out to be the Computer/ECM mounted on front fender by battery tray. Mine only acted up in cold wheather. It started out with the ASD (auto shut down relay) clicking rapidly. In addition the water in fuel, wait to start and check engine light also blinked fast. In this state, the battery would not charge.

The overdrive kicks out intermittently with no perceivable reason on my 1992 Dodge ram Diesel.

Believe it or not the most likely cause is a weak battery or batterys, and/or dirty battery cables. It causes electrical noise in electrical system which affects the computer. Test each battery indepentantly and clean all of the battery cables and grounds and see if that helps.

Well, Hate to say this to you but your Cummins 24v turbo diesel does not have glow plugs. The fuel temperature necessary for proper ignition is heated by an element inside your fuel filter housing.

Need diagram of how to locate on the engine of a cummins diesel 5.9 liter intercooled 1992 truck, the engine oil cooler

cooler located on passenger side front. Remove oil filter and find 10-15 10mm bolts. Cooler is sandwiched between filter head plate and the block, two gaskets, not much trouble to fix. Good luck...
