Im having the same prob. and its not the typical fixes! im leaning towards the trans at this point but still unsure... let me guess it sometimes kicks while decelerating or feels like it is pushing you without your foot on the gas?! wont do it all the time and has put you in harms way more than once?!

its not air, fuel, spark related!!! iv have put a k&n conical filter on it to try to lean it out to see if the problem got worse and it throu lean codes but didnt make the problem worse... so i also know its not o2's,maf,iat,fuel delivery or sensor related. now im trying to chase down the tcm and or transmission shift control mod. or if this trans has a true band set that can be adjusted? still having trouble finding a repair manual for this car but ill make due with the extensive knowledge i have of auto operation and problem elimination! so at this point im sure it is the valve body not transferring fluid to the proper band set at that rpm, and not shifting into a semi neutral state at a stop.

It is choking out at idle..
It could be the fuel finlter.. Try replacing it..
And the air filter too..

Have a great day..

I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado 5.7L

I have a 99 CK2500 that had simular problems. If at a stopsign or redlight some times it would die. If under way it would cut out for a second but not die. It ended up being the crank sensor. Hope this helps...Justin
