Another quick way to isolate a spark or fuel problem is to spray starting fluid into it then crank it up. If it fires up and runs a few seconds, it's a fuel issue, if not then it's probably a spark issue. If it cranks up, the fuel issues can be many. Mine happened to be the fuel pump went out. Isolate the fuel pump issue first. When you turn the key on you should hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds. If you don't, it's probably the fuel pump or the wiring (relay) to the fuel pump. Even if you do hear it (as was my case), it can still be the problem as there is a rubber hose that connects the fuel pump to the fuel line that can deteriorate and come off. So if you you can hear the pump run, make sure the fuel is making it to the throttlebody. If you loosen the fuel filter after the pump has ran, there will be pressure in it and it will spray fuel out (make sure there are no ignition sources if you do that). If you have a V6, there is a pressure releaf valve on the fuel rail, you can check there. If nothing comes out after or with the fuel pump running, that little hose came off and you'll have to get to the fuel pump in the fuel tank. If you go to that trouble, replace it, you're there anyway.

We put a new starter in also a new battery

Confirm that all of the pulleys are free to rotate. The water pump, alternator, power steering, idler, tension, and A/C.

The A/C compressor has been known to seize

Installing the belt including the alternator (unless a pulley has seized) is very unlikely to keep the engine from crank!

Hope this helps

Replaced the serpentine belt on a mazda protege then the engine runs hot dropping voltage and now wont start at all is this all from the belt?

Could be. The serpentine belt powers the alternator and the water pump. Maybe the belt is on wrong and running them backward. You would not be the first one to put a belt on wrong.

Hi my 91 subaru legacy was going jujst fine and then all of the sudden while i was pushing on the pedal , the car just stopped moving and died. and wont start back up. wont even turn over.

Hi Reese, what do you mean by "won't turn over"? Does the engine rotate but not fire, or does it not even rotate? If it won't rotate, perhaps your alternator belt was loose or worn and the battery didn't get charged. If the battery is good and the engine rotates, then the alternator has possibly died. The other possibility, is that the fuel pump had died.

rechk plugs firing order. chk soliniod and coil r ok, rechk fuel is getting into engine- choking usually determines that, u can smell the over choked engine. I f engine turning & choked hold throtel to floor while cranking and leave there until it fires. if no firing happends it must be electrical. rechk electrical connections. Cheers

I just checked you do indeed have a timing belt.
Sounds like the problem, worth the cost and time to change the water pump as well since your digging into the front of the engine anyway.
The tensioner should be good for another 100,000 miles

Put new battery ran for 5 mins and now wont stard

It sure sounds like a bad bearing in the alternator by your description. Back off the tensioner pulley just enough to remove the belt from the alternator. Hang the belt to the side with a piace of twine or a bungi cord. Turn the pulley on the alternator, it should turn freely and quietly. If it makes ANY sound at all or feels hard to turn it must be replaced. While you've got the belt loose turn the remainig pulleys and wiggle them to check for play. Change any idler or tensioner pulley that makes any noise or has play.

Check the wiring to the starter motor. If the engine turns and it still wont fire up, Check the timing belt has not broken.
