There are many reasons for a miss...can be poor coil performance, small vacuum leak(anywhere), dirty egr valve, worn or dirty injector, worn distributor shaft or bushing, beginning of a cam or crank sensor problem or loose or dirty wiring connection just about anywhere in the system. (and I probably forgot a few) Best you can do is to have someone run it on a real diagnostics machine and try to isolate the problem to a particular cylinder, then concentrate on what is not happening there, and why. Sometimes just taking a plug reading can give you some idea as well...one plug burning differently is a good clue.
If you look at your engine as a group of one cylinder engines, sometimes it helps. Each needs the exact same things to work properly: air and fuel at the proper ratio, spark at the proper time and strength and good valve and ring seal to make power. a miss is a lack of or partial lack of one of those items. The items I mentioned all have a bearing on this.
Sorry I can't give an instant "cure" but careful testing and examination is the only way to beat this.
Good luck!

Is it using oil?? idles rough?? these had a problem with the intake manifold lower gasket leak. first (eng off) open the throttle and look down into the intake, it should be dry at the bottom plate......if its oily, then this is the trick. get engine running, now take the pcv valve out of the right valve cover, now the left valve cover with the oil filler cap you want to plug that off, it it has a hose on it, pinch it off, or take it loose and put your finger over the hose, now...with your other hand ( I do this kneeling on the bumper) plug the other hole that the pvc valve was in,( on the other valve cover).with your finger, now with both holes plugged, wait about 10 seconds, and slowly pull your finger from the right (pass( side valve cover hole. if there is any kind of suction on your finger, your intake manifold is leaking at the bottom gasket, and will need replacement (big job) If there is NO suction,( kind of blows on you figer) then the intake is good, and your problem lies somewhere else. bu tyou really need to rule out the intake manifold gasket before going any further. this is a real common thing, and any shop that works on Dodge trucks will have done serveral.

Have your timing adjusted at your favorite service center to get the exact setting. Your distributor
moved and change the setting.

I have an Acura tl 98 its missing fire #4 what could be?

Misfires are caused by fuel delivery problems, injectors or too rich or weak. Spark issues, coil, wires, spark plugs or the cap and roter.
I could also be a loss of compression. First thing to check is the easiest... spark plugs, spark and cap and roter. Also the cheapest.

I have a 1999 dodge durango, and i just replaced the spark plugwires but my truck is stills missing. the first time it did it i took the battery post off for a couple of hours and it was but this time it...

Have you checked your distributor cap yet? Make sure you have alll your contact points on the cap. I am assuming you changed the plugs as well. I wasn't for sure, so if you didn't, change them. Make sure your timing belt/chain hasn't slipped on you. Make sure you have no loose wires. It is not likely, but it could be the computer. I would try to get a code. Even if you already did, it may come up different this time.
