Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

After I drive car for 15 or 20 minutes and then stop at intersection car will die when I start to pull forward. It will start again right away but will contine to stall when I try to pullforward . After a few attempts it will finally go forward but does't perform well thru a turn. Seems like it boggs down. Car starts every time I try to start it and runs really well out on the open road. I have changed fuel filter, fuel filter, and had a tuneup on engine. Any thoughts

Sounds like it could be a leak in the intake manifold (probably a gasket) and is causing a loss of vacuum

Car dies when going over really bumpy roads

If the brake pedal goes hard right BEFORE the car dies, and not after, then you could have a problem INSIDE the brake power booster. try to verify this next time it dies at a stop, if you can safely pull the dead car off the road into a driveway (or try to make it stall in a bumpy parking lot) - then before you try to restart the car, open the hood, pull off the rubber hose where it's plugged into the brake power booster --> you SHOULD hear a big "Swoosh" of air being sucked into the booster because there's supposed to be a strong vacuum there even after the car stops running. if you get nothing there, your car is dying of an excessive vacuum leak through the brake booster.= bad booster.

95 eagle vision esi slips out of gear at stops

there is a limp mode but I doubt if that is the problem
It indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid is faulty
run the fault codes to confirm if that is it or a faulty TCM
check wiring around the transmission

If the motor gets hot and cuts off and will not start for a period of time the problem would be the crank sensor. The sudden cut off and starting right back up can be due to dirty battery cable connections. Remove them from battery and clean all three of them with a wire brush and replace both bolts.

Battery light on, takes forever to start then dies once started

if you can get the car started again and with someone helping you have them take the positive side of the battery cable off while it is running and if it dies then it is the alternator also check your drive belt and when was the last time it was changed because it could be slipping
