Question about 2005 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

Water is leaking from under glove compartment

I have a 2005 grand caravan and when it rains or I spray water onto the middle of the windshield, water is leaking into the the passenger side from under the glove compartment.
I checked the drainage pipe on both sides and there was no blockage.
Any suggestion what else it might be the problem?

Water dripping from under the glove box area is usally a sign of water in the heating ducts. water runs down the windshield and goes under the cowel, then instead of draining, it some how enters the air intake for your heating system. Take off your wipers, and remove your cowel, you will be able to see the air intake (on the passangers side) and the reason why the water is being directed into it.

Thank you so much for your reply. I recently had this problem after a trip to the carwash. We panicked thinking it was the heater core. I am so grateful to have found your post.

This is exactly the problem I had and the solution to make the drains work again.

Chev Impala Air ducting leaks water to the passinger side floor compartment when it rains

Open the hood, remove 2 plastic pins & cover just below the windshield on passenger side. There should be a preformed long rubber gasket that diverts any water away from the cabin filter (regularly replaced) found underneath in the compartment & sometimes the rubber becomes dislodged when changing the cabin filter.

Leak onto floor behind the glove box, also making defrost slow to work.

i'm thinking this leak may actually be caused by a rusted out spot or hole on the hood of the vehilce, or by the windshield seal coming loose allowing water to enter..

if the cars antenna is above that area where the leak is it can also come from that..

basically it will enter the hood, run down the sides and gather on the floor under the glove compartment...

you said its only when its raining right ?? so its definitely a leak.

I have a water leak when it rains that comes thruogh the dash. Is this common and What is the fix?

Sounds like the seal around the windshield is letting the water in the van. You may need to replace the seal around the windshield. Take the van to a windshield replacement center and have it inspected for leaks. Hope this will help you.

Leaking inside the car everytime it rains

There is probably a drainage hole underneath the cowling under your windshield wipers. They're supposed to allow the water to drain out into the wheel well. See if the passengers side is plugged up. Collected water has to go somewhere and it will always find a place.

Rain water leaking from under glove box, heater area, is not antifreeqe, iam sure it is rain water

The evaporator drain might be clogged. Get under the truck or open the hood and look for a rubber nipple coming out of the firewall on the passengers side. Try sticking something in this hole to release whatever might be stuck in there, usually leaves or sediment. Be careful, don't go crazy pocking something in there. The evaporator core might be near the drain hole, you don't want to poke a hole in it.

Water leaks from behind glove box onto floor

Three things can cause this.A leaking heater core, leaking windshield(when it rains,or has been washed),and sometimes not often the AC drain plug can be clogged.I would go with the heater core, look under the dash you will see a black plastic box with 8mm screws about 6-10 of them remove them from the bottom first and gently pull on the cover you should get water running out.Replace the heater core,if water present.

Water leaking in glove box? looks like there is a hose that comes into the box... water is dripping from that hose under the near the back of the engine .

There are three possible fluid can leak though the glove box.

Leaves and dirty block the drainage pathway..
Rain water/car wash water will seek the lowest spot.

AC condenser water drainage pathway may be block.

Windshield washer hose come off and window washer fluid somehow find it was to the interior.

Try to identify the smell of the liquid. It may just be Wet ones wipes.

Good luck

Maybe. If you have a fixed antenna on that side of the vehicle, the large rubber gromet on the wire leading into the passenger compartment may have come out, allowing lots of rain water to enter the vehicle. Happened on my 94 and flooded the passenger side.

2005 Grand Caravan leaks from blower motor after rain

You need to pull the grill under the windshield wipers and open up the drain hole. If you are like me and park under a large tree, the leaves accumulate within that area and plug up the drain. You will need to pull the blower motor more than likely and clean that up to avoid mold and smelly unpleasantness. Hopefully the blower will survive and not short or rust up from the excess liquid.
