Question about 2006 Kia Sportage
Nut came loose and now has stripped the cone shaped wiper blade driver. replace the cone and replace the wiper in the correct plase and tighten the nut down. If the wiper does not work make sure the wiper blade is not stripped as well.

Sounds like the spring has broken in the wiper arm. If you pull the cover off of the base of the wiper arm there will be a screw. Remove the screw and pull straight out on the base of the arm. That will release it from the actuator. You should be able to pick one up at a parts house for about $20 to $40 dollars or you could shop a salvage yard for about $10. Hope this helps. Good luck.
