Question about 2000 Lexus LX470

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Lexus LX470 that is heating up. After having replaced and or serviced the entire cooling system I have concluded that the cooling fans are not staying on or coming on long enough to bring the temperature back down. Where are the cooling fan relays and the radiator fan switch located and how do I go about replacing them? Thanks

The fan relays are inside the main engine compartment junction box. and the fan "switch" is a function the the engine computer. it looks at engine speed vehicle speed and coolant temperature to decide whether to turn the fans on or not. I doubt its the ecu, most likely the fan relays.just pull them out and put new ones in.

My Lexus GS 300 is overheating and fan does not run, please help

You may have a burned out fan, jumper 12 volts to the fan and see if it runs, if not replace it and the control relay.

Replacing the battery in a 1999 Lexus LX470

There are a few thing's, one thing is to not accidentally touch the positive terminal with the negative battery cable or touch the negative terminal with the positive battery cable when your removing or installing the battery, if one of the cable's do touch the other post it may blow some fuse's, on some vehicles with radio anti theft systems when you remove the battery the radio will lock out, if you don't have the code you'll have to take it to a service dealer to have them reset it, other than that it's pretty much straight forward. good luck.

Caution on what to put in the LX470 automatic height adjustment system. Dealer said unless correct fluid is put in the system the seals may fail. Specifically warned against break fluid. Cost to repair is over $3,000. I bought a can of the fluid at the Lexus dealer for about $26. The can was approx. 1/2 gallon.

Service schedule

All major Lexus Services are every 30K. So your 60K service is the next major one. It's usually $600-$800 depending on the car. I usually do those and do the rest myself.
