Assuming that you have a small block V-8, the firing order is: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. To double check, the firing order is cast in the intake manifold. The odd numbered cylinders are on the drivers side, the even on the passenger side. The front most on the drivers side is #1, the front most on the passenger side is #2 and #3 is the second back from the front on the drivers side, #4 is 2nd back on the passenger side and so on.
