LOW BATTERY CHARGE ON NEW BATTERY-2000 kia Sephia

My just replace my alternator belt a couple of weeks ago and now it making a squeeky sound now and my battery is losing charge. The battery is new. I dont know if the alternator is bad or something else is going on. I was able to charge the battery but it only last 1 day charge. When I drive the car before it shuts offs it pulls back a little and shutt off.

I would take the belt off and then check the idler pulley assembly..it could be worn out..since the belt is off check the alternator pulley for any play also. A loose belt will not help the battery to keep a charge. if everything looks o.k. and you said you have a new battery and belt then it looks like your alternator went bad. Hope this helps.

Try tightening the belt again,a new belt usually strethes after a few days-week after initial installation, your problem should be fine after that

I can't fully answer your question. But I can for sure tell you it is not the alternator, if it were the alternator the car wouldn't randomly start. It may be something as simple as a loose or half rotted wire that makes contact randomly. If you have the resources look for any broken or damaged wire... if you are near an autozone or advanced auto parts, they can preform a diagnostics test. The test will tell you what the problem is. I think you should look at your Mass Air Flow Sensor as well.

As far as the squeeking goes... persistent cold start fan belt squeak... slight misalignment of steering pump biases belt to front edge of crankshaft pulley... since there doesn't appear to be a 'y' axis adjustment, must presume pulley itself may be fatigued??
