Mg midget rear lights flash when indicator are on

Sounds like a ground issue in you rear tail lamps. When the lights are not receiving proper ground, they will tend to do wonky things as they attempt to find a ground through other circuits.
Also, if the car happens to have a trailer hitch (yes, I have seen MG Midgets with trailer hitches, haha) then start by checking the wiring for the trailer circuit for wires shorted out against each other or otherwise damaged.

I have a 1970 MG Midget I replaced the fuel pump and it runs good but won't go into gear. The clutch is very soft. It sat for about 11 months the slave cylinder was low on fluid Suggestions?

It sounds like you have air in the hydraulic clutch, this means that one of the cylinder is defective, it is best to replace both.

Why car is running rough

It is most likely a carburetor problem. MGs are known for their dual carb set up. Heres a you tube video on how to tune them.

1965 mg midget

Hi. First thing you need to check first if the water pump is good. Start your engine while its cold then open the radiator cap. You will notice that the water is flowing inside the radiator if the water pump is ok. If water is stagnant then the problem is the water pump. You need to replace the water pump.

Let me know if you have further questions.

How do i set timing on a 1977 mg midget without a timing lite

Perfect timing for fuel efficiency and power is 3 degrees before it causes audible valve ping or knock when the engine is hot and under full acceleration up a hill. To get close with the distrib, advance it (turn it) from a retarded position at 2500 rpm until smooth running gives way to slight kicking. You will feel and hear it. Lock it down and road test, listening for the valve knock. Backfire is more associated with retarded timing.
