Question about 2004 Oldsmobile Alero
It depends on where the sound is coming from, but the most likely suspect would be a worn tie-rod end. There is most likely excessive wear that is permitting movement of the tie-rod end and is thus causing the thumping sound when turning. That is when it would be most prevalent.
