Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Grand Cherokee 2004 diesel. When you turn the car, the wheel starts to transmit a bump and a litle click and you feel it in hands. It seems to be local, right from the wheel not from the suspension.

Vibration coming from front axle when coming to a stop it gets worse, brakes are good , maybe cv joint?

if you feel the pulsation in brake pedal when stopping. its a warped brake rotor thats causing it. for bad cv joint symtoms--- Unusual noises when making turns. As you are driving on the road and you make a turn at the corner, if you start hearing unusual sounds coming from under the car then this is one of the symptoms of a bad CV joint. These noises will sound like something is clicking beneath the car every time you turn the steering wheel. Evidence of a damaged boot. Steering wheel feels heavier. The steering wheel will start to feel tighter and heavier and you can hardly make simple turns to the left or right. In severe cases you might even feel heavy vibrations like you are driving down a rocky road.

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. There is a "violent" vibration that occurs only when you are going 40-60 MPH and you hit a bump or pot hole on the highway. The front end begins to...

Vibration from about 40-60 mph is usually attributed to wheel balancing, but the onset when you hit a bump seems to indicate play in the steering linkages (tie rods etc) or suspension members and stabiliser bar rubbers but you had that all checked out, that brings us back to the wheel balancing.

Check your ball joints. also, if the tires are somewhat worn many times they won't have enough rotating mass to overcome side harmonics and can shake but most oftern the joints are worn. No play is acceptable there.

My brake lights are out in my 2004 grand cherokee, already check bulbs, fuses and pedal switch.....seems ok to me

Your turn signalswitch is most likely the culprit. You have to remove the steering wheel to replace it. Just don't turn the wheels to tightly when you remove the steering wheel. or you could damage the clock spring inside the steering column.

Check the transmition fluid level if you know how. The Jeep should be looked at by a mechanic as soon as you can do it. Check for fluid on the undercarriage that may be from a transmition leak.

If you mean looseness in a side to side movement before the wheels turn, then you have bad tie-rod ends.

Brakes engage automatically while I am driving slowing me down and there is a burning odor.

All i can suggest is that you probably have a brake hanging up. To check and see which one it is, drive the vehicle and feel (carefully in case its real hot) to see which wheel is hotter than the others. I use a hand held electronic temperature sensor, but you can tell by feel. Rick

Suspension and steerin wheel

It is difficult to just assess wut is causing the suspension knock. U will have to go under the vehicle or let someone who is experience about this do it. Go under the vehicle and check the entire suspension system, steering ends, rack ends, ball joionts, rubber bushings etc. Well u said u have changed ur shocks but no difference. As for the squeaks, this might be coiming from the universal joint from the steering column. Like I said they really have to be inspected.
