Isuzu changed the 4WD system in 1996. Does your trooper have autolock hubs or axle control. Trooper's with the light and wiper switches on the dash have auto lock hub's. Light and wiper switches on the steering colum have axle control. If unsure auto lock hubs have hex. headed screws and a flat face. Axle control have alan screws and a tin rounded cap. Let me know which yours has and I will let you know how to fix it. Cheers

Is it going to hurt my 2001 Isuzu trooper to drive without front drive shaft? On my pickup it doesn't

remove the shaft completely
it will make no difference until you need 4wheel drive which you won't get
if it is an all wheel drive you will need to engage the all wheel lock to stop the transfer diff from working so that you get drive to the rear wheels

Isuzu V6 sparkplug firing order

gee guy, 3.1L or 3.2L?
you only need 3 things to time the distrib. static.
where is #1, its the most forward cylinder, LOOK carefully.
forward means closest to the cam drive end of engine.
not flywheel end.
rotor rotation direction (crank and watch it)
now the order, 3.2l v6? IS It? the single cam?
1990 trooper v6
answering for only USA car...
our 3.2 has no distrib V6 its DIS.

3.1L V6 USA spec. only. rotor is CCW

Oxigen sensor

OK, so now I know that you have a 1999 Isuzu Trooper Equipped with a 3.5L V6 DFI DOHC engine, 4-wheel drive, four wheel disc brakes, four wheel antilock system, 108.70 in. wheel base, with a standard curb weight of 4465 lbs.

WHAT ABOUT "oxygen sensor"???

I have a 1999 Isuzu Trooper and when I hit the auto 4 wheel drive button it blinks and doesn't engage. The 4 wheel drive works fine. Any ideas what the problem maybe??

While driving, apply the foot brake and press the 4x4 button. If it engages, it can be bad auto locking hubs, or a bad torque converter. This is the same problem I am having right now but I was able to the get the 4x4 to work by doing what I described above. I am going to take off the wheels and check the hubs and eventually work toward the torque converter. I'll keep you updated.

1989 isuzu trooper right front wheel clicking and does not engage in 4 wheel drive (when all four wheels are in the air)

Check the automatic locking hub on the right side. BEWARE: You MUST have the appropriate special service tools for this job!!!!!

The vehicle will not engage in 4WD operation when the vehicle is off the ground, as the automatic locking front hubs require front wheel load to engage. When the hubs DO lock, it is normal to hear 2 to 3 soft clicks. Anything after that indicates a problem.

If memory serves, there is a cam bushing behind the plate that will wear out, and if the plate is worn out, the hub clicks and will not engage.

1998 isuzu trooper torque on demand lights go off when truck stops moving

It is Torque On Demand. When you are stopped there is no need for the front end to be engaged, no demand. Once you start moving, the lights should begin working as the demand for four wheel drive engagement increases, if the conditions require four wheel drive. It's the way the system works. Enjoy!
