I have a 2000 Audi TT Quattro. Never had a problem

I have a 2000 Audi TT Quattro. 1.8l Never had a problem with remote gas lid release or hatch release buttons on console. This morning, neither button worked. The console center button for the alarm worked, but could not release the gas lid or hatch, with the repspective gas/hatch console buttons. The key fob hatch release works fine. I started the car to see if there was a battery issue. Car ran fine, still no function with the buttons. Thought there was a fuse issue. I pulled and checked every fuse on the panel by drivers door. No apparent blown fuses. I then tried to start the car. Engine cranks, but no hint of starting. I suspect that pulling a fuse led to an electronic communication issue with the keycode/engine. Any thoughts?
