2007 town & country has "gas cap" where odometer reading is. what causes this and how can I reset it?

The message usually means the engine has been run with the gas cap off, or the cap is leaking.
You may have to use a scanner or code reader to erase the code.
Check your owners manual for details.

Shifting

Is your code reader capable of reading U, C, and B codes? The speedometer doesn't get it's speed reading from the wheel sensors. It gets it from the transmission. Not shifting past 2nd gear means your transmission is in "limp in" mode. It prevents shifting to avoid further damage. I see a transmission repair shop in your future.

What does service 4 wheel drive mean

For the 4WD light, there is a TSB that instructs the dealer to replace the AC control in the Instrument Panel. The AC control in your truck is sending some incorrect messages via the vehicles data bus. The Instrument Cluster thinks it should turn on the 4X4 lamp. The new AC control will keep the 4X4 lamp off and you should not notice any problem with the AC

1) Turn your key to the on position (dash lights will come on)
2) Push the odometer button until the total miles are displayed and keep holding it.
3) Turn the key Off, and then back ON while holding the odometer button in.Don't let up on the button. You will notice the odometer reading shows dashes and they will sequence off. After they sequence off, the Maint Reqd light will go off. Release the odometer button

Maint req light

That just means you're due for an oil change. they automatically come on after 5000 miles. To reset the light, put it on the odometer display in your instrument cluster. turn the key off. now push and hold the odometer/trip reset button while you turn on the key to the IGN position. You will see 5 dashes on the odometer display, which will sequencially disappear and then go back to the odometer when it's done. after your odometer shows again, you can release the odometer/trip reset button and your maintenence light should be off.

"done" on the odometer?

If you turn the key on and off on a dodge 3 times in a row, they will give you trouble codes in the odometer area. After all the codes are displayed or if there are no codes it will say (done). There shouldn't be anything wrong with your car, it was just in diagnostic mode.

The odometer reading disappeared on my '98 Volvo S70.

Have you found anything out. I brought my volvo in to have the battery replaced and when I picked it up I noticed the odometer was blank (no -----) just blank. I was told it was not related and probably just a bulb. Not a bulb I have no idea. I don't want to replace the cluster unless I'm sure what have you found out. (all my other gauges are fine speed, tach, trip fine)
