Cjk your charging sysrem at the battery. The alternator should ce charging in this range. 13,6v to `4,2v. Remove and clean the negative battery connection, Whether it's a post or side terminal, remove and clean Your headlights created a deman, A loose or bad connection created the load and the alternatied to meet the demand taking out a bulb and overheating said wires. Headlights are yor second highest losd in a vehicle. All witing and connections must be tight and clean. Look closely at the battery grd. You want to find what in specific caused it. Good Luck_Ned_
