On the side you should see a small Allen screw this should remedy the issue or its a regular screw that holds it into place if it has any other type of locking mechanism i don't believe it does please let me know what you find

I have a 61 chevy apache 10 with a factory linkage that is acting up, I am looking for a exploded diagram so that I assess whether I can save the column shifter.. Please help! thx

Wear is a big enemy of the old "H" box shifter. When you pull the lever the attached shaft slides through bushings back and forth. The lube and dirt accumulation of dirt over the years forms a gummy mixture. Try spraying some cleaner (carb or brake) where the shaft slides into the shift box on the column under the hood and work the shaft back and forth until it moves more freely then lube with clean motor oil and work that in. With the wear in the shift box you need to take more care when you shift making sure the handle is in the center before pulling or releasing the lever.

Shift lock camry

say again? and no year, what a waste that.....
is engine running,
is key in igntion, where is it, off , on?
is foot on brake pedal
slips to where? try to be exact.
slips to reverse, or neutral? or????
first off, park lock freezes the shifter in to park, until brakes are applied.
so my guess, is ,sigh.
you step on brake, start car, and the shifter falls to neutral
it cant fall to nothing, only, PRNDL (&2)
some cars have a park button on the shifter that locks you in park
this can fail, its just a simple lock in the handle.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee shifter stuck in park

Could be the brake light switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park. Sometimes there is a button or tab near the shifter to unlock it in an emergency. Sometimes you can take it out of park if you turn the key but not to the on position.
Your owners manual should have these procedures, and you can do an internet search for the process to take the console out if needed.

there is a clip you pull out on the front just under the part you grip, you get that clip out the shifter handle will lift off, they sell universal handles at autozone and pep boys.

MAZDA dealer replaced transmission under warranty

it sounds like the dealer has not fit the shifter cable corectly it may be sitting on a bad angle as you have all ready paid the money for the new auto and you expressed your concern when you picked the car up you should take the car back and demand it be repair properly don't take the excuse it is wering in car parts dont were in,
i am sorry this is not exactly wat you want to here as this sit is to help people fix things but some things you shouldn't have to fix eg poor workmanship
(also the truble may be in the selecting mecanism inside the auto in wich case it will need to go to spcalist)
