Question about 2002 Subaru Outback

Open Question

Six weeks ago (one week after a 150000 km service) my 2002 subaru outback lost traction and went into 360 degree spins when going 70km/hour around a bend which was wet. Following repairs, I had the car back for just over a week and exactly the same thing happened on another bend at the same speed - this time it rolled as well and the car is a right off and I nearly was as well. Is this possibly a problem with the subaru transfer box/case? I'm now facing a driver infringement notice by the police, but am sure I am not to blame since these are my only accidents in 23 years of driving.

2006 Subaru Outback horn will not blow in center position but will blow if wheel is rotated to either side approx. 45 degrees. Horn will blow if rotated 360 degrees from centered position

There is a "clock spring" that allows current to get from your horn button, through the steering wheel. Due to the spinning of the steerring wheel. This is a wound up flex circuit, and they can break. Sounds like yours has an issue. It's located behind the steering wheel and air bag.

I have a 2002 Santa Fe AWD (2.7L) with 302K KM. Two weeks ago, I noticed on two occasions that the transmission did not downshift as smoothly as before from 3rd to 2nd (auto trans) as I approached a stop...

first try flushing and replacing the transmission fluid,if this dose not help take unit to a trans service centre have them check the valve body, you may have some shift solinoid malfunction

2000 Subaru Outback Wagon (100K miles) with P0420 Code

I do not know for sure if this is the problem you are having, But, I have noticed that from 95 up to 2002 I have seen a lot of PO420 codes that have been just the sensor. I do not know if it was a weak sensor or just that program telling it that it is below threshold. I did notice that if the vehicles are run for a long trip at highway speed it goes out. I wish you luck and have a great day.

EGR Flow Malfunction, and sometimes a Cylinder 4 Misfire.

How does the oil look? Is it milky or is there any discoloration? Is any moisture or steam vapor coming out of the exhaust pipe? The EGR fault is most likely being triggered from the cylinder missfire. Sounds like you might have a head gasket blown, and/or a cracked or warped cylinder head from the overheating.
You can run a compression test to help determine this.
Good luck...i hope this helps you troubleshoot the problem.
