1991 chevy lumina automatic transmission, slips in 4th and overdrive, and you can push the car in all gears except park

Well, you can push any automatic trans car in any gear except park.
As for slipping in overdrive which is 4th gear, if the trans is full of fluid, you're probably looking at replacing it to fix it.
Could be a list of things such as clutches or dirt in the valve body.

I bought a 94 4runner, however, it didn't come with a manual, what does the black button with a green stripe below the shifter represent?

I can't be certain with the information given, but I have owned a lot of toyotas over the years ... I would guess that the button would be the Overdrive toggle button if it has an automatic transmission. This would be useful if you are towing a load, as it would not let the engine go into overdrive, which has less torque than regular drive gears, preventing the truck from switching in and out of overdrive which can cause wear on the transmission. Leaving the overdrive active is your best bet for normal driving, though.
If you have a top-of-the-line model, this might also be a shift-on-the-fly 4 wheel drive selector ... but I am not sure if the 94 4runner came with this option. If you test it, and the button does not seem to have the effect of changing your 4wheel drive status, or your overdrive status ... then you might want to pick up a Haynes manual -- it will have the information that you are looking for. They are available at most auto-parts stores and large chain bookstores.

I have a 95 f250 powerstroke diesel, automatic, since yesterday the transmission has been slipping between 3rd and overdrive. the problem started while hauling a fairly light horse trailer and the...

You should not use overdrive unless you are steadily going highway speeds. I had one of those and my ex liked to use cruise control on windy coastal roads. This caused it to shift back and forth from 3rd to overdrive constantly. So I disconnected the cruise control so he couldn't use it. Lol. I'm not suggesting this for you. You should keep overdrive off for now and have your transmission serviced. New filter & oil & flush the cooler. Make sure you ONLY USE THE RECOMMENDED FLUIDS!!!!!!!!!! See if that helps. Do not use overdrive pulling a trailer and going up a hill and do not use it if you are on windy roads where you are slowing down alot of times. Try letting off the gas for a second when you do want to engage the overdrive. Remember to always check your automatic tranny fluid with the engine running and fully warmed up.

this is a worn out transmission front pump and or forward clutch pack, u have low pressure or a internal seal is leaking and you are losing hydraulic pressure that way, that is why it sipls out of gear.
