My car makes a clunk, clunk noise when I am backing up and have the wheel turned and when I am driving and have to make a sudden sharp stop.

You either have a suspension problem like a ball joint, or you may have a worn CV joint in either the left or right drive shaft. Does the noise seem dominant on one side or the other? If so, that is where you want to look. Check the rubber boots on both ends of the drive axles to see if there is any leaking or cracks.

Could also be the exhaust pipe making contact with something. It needs to be inspected carefully looking for contact marks.

Scratchy noise at the back of defender

You need to have a look at your rear suspension bushes, they make a clunking, knocking sound that sounds a lot like a trailer when empty bouncing around.

Noise from rear suspension on 2003 Honda Odyssey.

a clunking clanging noise sounds very much like your stabilizer bar end links and bushings. you have a thin rear "sway" bar on the rear of your odyssey. this can cause a whole lot of noise. grab each side and pull/push. if it feals loose, replace the end links and bushings.

Sounds like the rear trailing arm bushes, they are very common in the hondas, im not sure what a honda passport is, we dont get them here in new zealand, but most hondas have them fail quite often and make the noise you are decribing. check them out and see how you go.
