Question about 2005 Cadillac CTS
When making a stop with the air conditioner on engine stops with check engine light going on for half a second before shutting down. It doesn't have a problem to restart immediately. Has done it two times in one month, both with AC on.
Yesterday I was on the highway at 60 mph and check engine light went on and off intermitently while car lost thrust for half a second. Sppedometer went from 60 to 30 approx. before going back to 60. Car kept going (didn't stop).
I took it to the dealership last week (after the second time it stopped) and they say everuthing is all right. They can't find a problem.
Tell the dealership uhugh. if the check engine light comes on, there is an error code which gets stored in the computer. on the nicer vehicles (like yours)it stores vehicle information at the time when the error occured....eg battery voltage, rpm, speed, temperature, rpm etc. you need the find out what the error code is. that would give you an idea on where to start looking
hope this helps

Engine stalling and rough run
issue at low speeds
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
