Your ignition relay switch is faulty and not providing electrical power.
It could also be a faulty ground. Check the negative battery cable where it conencts to engine ground. It may be loose.
While you are at it, disconnect the battery cables and clean the cable clamps and battery posts...

Check that all the vacuum lines are not cracked or broken or even disconnected. Make sure is getting vacuum to all components that operate by vacuum. Right down to the EGR valve.

Backfires and dies

Sounds like a crank or cam sensor or even a coil pack problem.Do you have any codes or check engine lite on?

99 mitsubishi mirage just died as i was driveing. now wont crank, sounds like timing is off. Any suggestions

If the car dies like you flipped a killswitch and wont even try to crank the motor I would definitely lean toward the ignition switch in the steering column is fried. Once it shorts out the car dies and wont crank.

Change your Crankshaft position sensor, or your camshaft position sensor. Same thing happened on my car about 3 months ago.

Car just started dying

You may have a bad alternator causing the entire vehicle to run off of the battery and not recharging it. Simple test, have it running and momentarily disconnect the battery cable, ither positive or negitive, and if the car dies as soon as you lift the cable, it's not charging. remove your alternator, and visit a local advance auto or autozone with it, and they can test it for free. Also check your fuses and fusable links, as one of them may have been blown.
Good luck!
