2007 ... Change oil & filter (keep receipts for warranty coverage)
You can hold down the reset button for 30 seconds and the message will clear. The system will assume that you changed oil and will remiond you again in 3,000 miles.
If you use synthetic oil, it can last much longer between changes. I recommend it.

Why do my change oil light come on in my 2004 Pontiac GM? the oil was changed on the 16 of July 2014.

The light comes on when its time to change your oil. I do believe yours is factory set for 7,000 miles. Thus just at or prior to driving 7000 miles it will come on telling you its time for another oil change

Oil light with wrench showing on

It seems to be time for an oil change! If you already changed your oil you are going to need to reset the change oil light.

To reset the Change Oil light you will need to turn the ignition key to the open position then back to off 3 times.
After the third time leave it on in the open position then depress the gas pedal to the floor 3 times.
Turn key off and it should now be reset.

How to reset the change oil light on 2001 chevrolet suburban LS

Turn the ignition key to on position, but do not start the vehicle.
Wait for the "change oil light" to come on
Tap the throttle pedal three times quickly
Wait for the light to flash several times, then go out.
Start the car and drive and it won't come back on.

It usually works the first time, but repeat if light stays on.

How do i reset the oil change light? 99 grand am se 6cyl

That light should reset itself after you changed the oil .If you have changed the oil and it doesn't reset ,try disconnecting the batter for about 5 mins. check your milage, see how many miles you normally drive before that light normally comes on. That is so, if that light dosen't come on ,you will know its time to change the oil. If that light doesn't come on at the right amount of miles, have your oil changed at the dealer and ask them to check the oil change warning light .If they find nothing wrong ,no charge . This warning light is fairly new ,in the old days people just guessed ,its about time to change the oil !
